چکیده

The effect of zero-valent iron nanoparticles (nZVI) addition on methane production during anaerobic digestion pig slurry was assessed. Experiments were conducted using two experimental set-ups: batch and long-term continuous operation at a fixed nZVI dosage. Two different temperature ranges (mesophilic thermophilic) Biogas content monitored, the specific methanogenic activity biomass oxidation state evaluated times. results experiments mesophilic showed an inhibition all tested dosages (42, 84, 168 254 mgnZVI g?1 VSS concentrations), while boosted with lowest dosage in thermophilic operation. In operation, produced increase biogas, achieving values between 80 85% both ranges. average rate increased 165% 94% respect to control range, respectively. value +3 almost immediately after contact substrate slower progressive reactors obtained indicate that is interesting strategy for situ biogas upgrading.

Inactivation of murine norovirus 1 and Bacteroides fragilis phage B40-8 by mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic digestion of pig slurry.

Mesophilic (37 degrees C) and thermophilic (52 degrees C) anaerobic digestion of pig slurry induced at least a 4-log decrease in murine norovirus 1, used as a surrogate virus for porcine norovirus, after 13 and 7 days, respectively. Bacteroides fragilis phage B40-8, employed as a universal viral model, was lowered by 2.5 log after 7 days. The viral titer declined due to temperature and matrix e...

Methane Production By Anaerobic Co-Digestion Of Sewage Sludge And Wheat Straw Under Mesophilic Conditions

This study investigated the possibilities of improving methane yield production from, the anaerobic co-digestion of wheat straw (WS) and primary sludge (PS). The batch experiment was conducted under mesophilic conditions. Different mixtures of WS and PS depending on its C/N ratio were carried out to investigate the optimum C/N ratio for effective methane production. The cumulative methane yield...

Anaerobic Co-digestion of Sewage Sludge with Cheese Whey under Thermophilic and Mesophilic Conditions

Anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge (SS) and co-digestion with cheese whey (CW) was evaluated in batch conditions under mesophilic and thermophilic regimens. Results indicated that the co-digestion can be successfully attained despite some inhibitory stages that may be initially present due to the accumulation of volatile fatty acids. Degradation of the mixture SS-CW followed a similar pattern...

Anaerobic digestion of whole stillage from dry-grind corn ethanol plant under mesophilic and thermophilic conditions.

Anaerobic digestion of whole stillage from a dry-grind corn-based ethanol plant was evaluated by batch and continuous-flow digesters under thermophilic and mesophilic conditions. At whole corn stillage concentrations of 6348 to 50,786 mg total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD)/L, at standard temperature (0 °C) and pressure (1 atm), preliminary biochemical methane potential assays produced 88±8 L (4...

Pig slurry concentration by vacuum evaporation: influence of previous mesophilic anaerobic digestion process.

Water can be removed from pig slurry by evaporation, through the application of wasted heat from a power plant or from other processes. Apart from obtaining a concentrate with an obviously higher nutrient concentration than the original slurry, another objective of water removal is to obtain water as condensate, which could be reused. The objective of this work was to study the vacuum evaporati...
